Range: breeds across the northern Holarctic region; winters coastally in the north Pacific Ocean from the Kamchatka Peninsula to the Yellow Sea, and from southern Alaska to northwestern Mexico; and in the northern Atlantic Ocean from the Maritime Provinces (Canada) to the southeastern United States, from Scandanavia south to the Mediterranean, and on the Black and Caspian seas.
全北区北部で繁殖し、越冬場所は、太平洋北部沿岸地方のカムチャッカ半島から黄海、アラスカ南部からメキシコ北西部、大西洋北部ではカナダから米国南東部、スカンジナビアから地中海、黒海、カスピ海。
亜種未分類
〇1992年07月05日、米国・マウンテンビユー市内のショアライン (Shoreline) のボート池で観察。
