テキサス沿岸地域からアルゼンチン中央部とカリブ海諸島に分布する。
(1)亜種 Geranoaetus albicaudatus hypospodius Gurney, JH, 1876
Range: S Texas and nw Mexico to n Colombia and nw Venezuela.
テキサス南部、メキシコ北西部からコロンビア北部、ベネゼラ北西部に分布。
〇2016年01月08日、コスタリカ・ニコヤ湾で観察。
