Range: much of Africa south of the Sahara.
サハラ以南のアフリカの大部分に分布する。

(1)亜種 Estrilda astrild cavendishi Sharpe, 1900
Range: Tanzania, se Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Malawi to Zimbabwe, Mozambique.
タンザニア、コンゴ南東部、ザンビア、マラウィからジンバブエ、モザンビークに分布。

〇1992年10月03日、タンザニア・ミクミ国立公園で観察。
